These products are being developed in the project:



• Locator for lost objects
It consists of tags to put on items that tend to get displaced, and a stationary display with the items written or drawn with a button next to it. The idea is that the tag will sound a beep when the respective button is pushed.

• Bath water level and temperature monitor and controller

The idea is to prevent overflowing or too high temperature level in the bath tub. It could also be used in wash basins.

• Cooker usage monitor
This device will shut off the gas to a cooker if the pan is overheating.

• Automatic bedroom light

This device will turn the bedroom light on automatically when a person leaves the bed. It is a stand-alone product.

• Automatic calendar showing day and night

The calendar stands on the table and shows if it is morning, evening or night, as well as the date.

Enabling products for persons with dementia

This is the web site of an exciting research project which is aimed at "marrying the new with the familiar" when developing and introducing new technology to people with dementia and their carers.

Quality of Life
The project aims at facilitating independent living of people with early dementia and to promote their wellbeing through access to enabling systems and products. Pleasure, memory support, entertainment and own activity are key words in the project. The project is funded under the EC Programme Quality of Life and living resources, and will last for three years, starting in March 2001.
 
Five countries, wide experience
The partners are situated in England, Ireland, Finland, Lithuania and Norway, are interdisciplinary and have wide experience in dementia care and research, technology development and human factors.
